La Francophonie Summit began in Armenia's capital Yerevan on Thursday with Qatar's participation.
Qatar's delegation to the two-day summit is chaired by Minister of State HE Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al Kuwari.
The summit will adopt the Yerevan declaration and a resolution underlining the importance of citizenship and human rights.
Qatar has been a member since 2012 at the International Organization of la Francophonie, an umbrella organisation of more than 80 countries and governments, consisting of 58 members and 26 observers, representing more than one-third of the member states of the United Nations.
Qatar participated in the conference of foreign ministers of the member countries in Yerevan on Tuesday, where it affirmed that the proposals submitted to the Francophone Programme for the period from 2019 to 2022 indicate that the country would continue its efforts to uphold Francophone values.
In a speech at the event, Kuwari said Qatar was committed to coexistence and Francophone values ever since it joined the organisation in 2012.
He added that the number of French-language speakers in Qatar has grown above 200,000 people, with more and more French-speaking schools opening in the country, as well as a French-speaking radio station.
