Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Saudi King Salman emphasized their"full cooperation"in the investigation into missing Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi during a phone call late Friday, according to state news agency Anadolu.
The phone call came just hours after Turkish prosecutors reportedly took statements from 15 Turkish employees at Saudi Arabia's consulate. A driver, a technician and an accountant were among those who gave statements, Anadolu reported on Saturday.
Early Saturday, Riyadh confirmed that Khashoggi died at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul following a"fist fight,"according to the state-run news agency SPA.
Khashoggi, a vocal critic of Saudi Arabia's powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin~Salman, had been missing since October 2, when he entered the consulate to pick up papers so he could marry his Turkish fiancee.
Erdogan and Salman also discussed the sharing of information between Saudi and Turkish officials in regards to separately led probes that are ongoing in both countries, Anadolu said.
