A PROMINENT Hong Kong arts venue has declined to host an exiled Chinese writer as part of a local literary festival, marking the second artistic event to be axed since last week amid fears of growing censorship in the autonomous Chinese city.~
Tai Kwun, Hong Kong's newest multi-million dollar art space, said on Thursday it did not want to promote the~views of Ma Jian, whose books are banned in China. He was set to speak at the venue of as part of the Hong Kong International Literary Festival this week.
"We do not want Tai Kwun to become a platform to promote the political interests of any individual. We have therefore worked closely with the Hong Kong International Literary Festival to find a more suitable alternative venue," Timothy Calnin, director of Tai Kwun, said in a statement.
