The Sealine beach in Mesaieed has got a stunning new look and promises to offer campers and beachgoers a richer and more thrilling experience this winter.
Around 6 million square metres of the beach has undergone a massive makeover as part of the Al Enna project, which was officially launched by the National Tourism Council (NTC) and its partners last Friday. It will be carried out as a pilot project throughout this winter until mid-April.
The beach now features five zones, each one dedicated to a particular activity like surfing, drag racing, shopping or cultural programmes.
"Though this is a pilot project, our work is ongoing with the various partners, camping ground owners, and businesses to continuously improve the camping and desert experience," Al Enna project's official spokesperson Omar al Jaber said.
The zones start with the Al Seef beach, which is essentially meant for water-sports like swimming and surfing. It can accommodate around 15,000 people and offers sufficient amenities including showers and a giant screen on which the activities are displayed. It has 30 food and beverage outlets, beach cabins and chairs which can be rented besides a children's play area.
Next comes the Batabit (the Qatar Centre for Motorcycles) zone. There, visitors can rent quad-bikes and ATVs in a 300,000 square-metre space designed to provide safe and integrated experiences for biking fans. The area features eight biking tracks catering to riders with different abilities and requirements.
Adjacent to this area is the Mawater zone, which is built to host spectator drag races, ensuring the safety of both contestants and viewers.
The penultimate zone is the Al Mashab or the bonfire zone, which features all the necessary amenities to offer an authentic desert experience. It also includes features that highlight the heritage qualities of the beach.
The final zone is called the Souq and has around 25 stores offering various camping supplies, groceries, technical services, mobile phones, and motorcycle spare parts.
