TWO US airstrikes left 37 al-Shabaab militants dead near Debatscile in Somalia this week, the US said in a statement on Tuesday.
"These precision airstrikes were conducted in support of the federal government of Somalia as it continues to degrade al-Shabaab," a statement from the US-Africa Command said.
"Airstrikes reduce al-Shabaab's ability to plot future attacks, disrupt its leadership networks, and degrade its freedom of manoeuvre within the region," it added.
No civilians were killed in the Monday attack. US forces are partnering with African Union troops, AMISOM, and the Somali National Security Forces in combined counterterrorism operations in the troubled East African nation.
Al-Shabaab, which is seeking to establish an Islamist state in Somalia, regularly launched attacks on government buildings, hotels and restaurants in the volatile nation on the Horn of Africa.
The group is affiliated with the international al-Qaeda terrorist network.
