The agreement was signed by Acting CEO of Msheireb Properties Ali al Kuwari and Deputy General Manager of Qatar Shell Rashid Majed al Sulaiti in Doha on Monday.
According to the agreement, Qatar Shell will organise events and programmes at the Company House Museum to raise awareness of the importance of oil sector and its impact on the current generation.
Acting CEO of Msheireb Properties Ali al Kuwari said,"The agreement with Qatar Shell is in line with Msheireb Properties' vision and mission to preserve the national heritage. The Company House is one of the four heritage houses that were renovated at Msheireb Downtown Doha and form part of Msheireb Museums. It was once used as the headquarters for Qatar's first oil company, and tells the story of the pioneering Qatar petroleum industry workers and their families who helped transform Qatar into a modern society.
Deputy General Manager of Qatar Shell, Rashid Majed al Sulaiti said:"We hope the agreement will be a catalyst to realise a unified vision of preserving Qatar's cultural heritage while achieving sustainability and boosting Qatar's tourism sector in order to make it a prime tourist destination in the region in the long run".
Msheireb Museums Director Hafez Ali said:"The agreement will enhance the archive documentation effort of the Company House and activate our events in order to make this museum a major hub that preserves the important history of our country for the next generations".
The 'Company House Museum' at Msheireb Downtown Doha encompasses a collection of equipment and items that were used in the oil company at old times. It also tells the story of efforts of oil exploration since 1920 and the workers who build a better future for kin and country, and together with young Qataris today, find inspiration in their tenacity and dedication to the building of modern Qatar.
In the Company House, visitors witness first-hand accounts of the men who laboured in this industry, not just to provide for their families, but also to lay the foundations for their emerging nation.
The museums will be open from 9 am to 5 pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday. On Friday it will be open from 3 pm to 9 pm. The museum will be closed on Sunday.
