SOME 354 orphans, including both males and females, are enjoying the sponsorship provided by Qatar Charity (QC) within the State of Qatar. This sponsorship aims at improving their living conditions, providing them with better educational and health services and developing their capabilities through a series of activities.
The orphan sponsorship project receives a significant support from the sponsors in Qatar, as well as from many local organisations and institutions as part of their community responsibility.
Sponsorship activities in the educational field include the school visit, which is a periodic activity organised in cooperation with school administrations to know the academic levels of those sponsored by the charity and ensure the improvement of their behavioural discipline.
School bags are also distributed to the sponsored students at the start of each academic year. Moreover, school supplies such as bags, notebooks, stationery, uniforms and others are provided to them in addition to paying their school fees.
Qatar Charity also seeks to invest the times of the sponsored students, especially their mid-year and summer vacations, in developing their talents and abilities through educational camps, which include cultural, sports and recreational activities in a safe and nurturing environment.
QC's sponsorship project also aims at establishing partnerships with many organisations and institutions to benefit the orphans. As part of this, QC organisedsummer activities in cooperation with Al-Ahli Sports Club and Water Sports Club, in addition to the awareness programmeheld in cooperation with Qatar Voluntary Center.
QC's sponsorship activities in the social arena include the provision of regular assistance to the orphans and their families. QC has recently launched the Khairuna Li-Ahlina (Charity Starts at Home) initiative to garner support for its projects within Qatar.
