Speaker of Iraqi Council of Representatives Mohammed al Halboosi has praised Qatar for its role in combating terrorism in Iraq within the international coalition against ISIS, which supported Iraq in its war against terrorism.
In an interview with Al-Sharq newspaper published on Tuesday, Halboosi pointed out that Arab and Gulf countries' history and their relation are greater than the problems they are experiencing, stressing that the Gulf crisis will be resolved sooner or later.
He also affirmed that Iraq has taken a clear position, which is not being part of the bloc politics in the region and not supporting a party against another.
Halboosi expressed his support for the initiative of HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah to mediate and resolve the Gulf crisis, calling for dialogue to overcome the crisis and rejecting any siege on any country.
He said any problem between neighbouring countries will affect the others, either directly or indirectly, expressing respect for the sovereignty of States and non-interference in their internal affairs.
He pointed out that there are signs of new trade between Qatar and Iraq related to the use of the link between Qatar and Turkey through Iraq.
"This route will be an important port because it will link Europe to the Arabian Gulf through Turkey and Iraq," he said, explaining that Iraq has opened its corridors in front of Qatar to deal with matters relating to transport and shipping. (QNA)
Therefore, there are joint committees between the two governments to finalise this and other issues, he added.
