As many as 1,300 cars were seized during the traffic campaign launched by the police a month ago with maximum vehicles guilty of glass tinting violations, First Lieutenant Saad Talal al Rumaihi of the Traffic Investigations Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, has revealed.
The official noted that glass tinting violations endanger lives on roads and motorists must be aware of
the perils.
In a video posted on Twitter, al Rumaihi has appealed to motorists to be extra careful during the camping season, while pointing out that traffic patrols are present on all roads and in all areas. Regular communication from the operations room, he noted, helps reduce accidents and traffic violations, he added.
The General Directorate of Traffic keeps holding these campaigns on a regular basis, which leads to seizure of violating cars. Some of the violators are also referred to the Public Prosecution because of the gravity of their offences.
The General Directorate of Traffic had also organised a similar campaign during the month of Ramadan during which over a thousand cars were seized, including around 800 for violations related to stunt driving and manipulation. Also, more than 200 cars were seized for violations of sound and
tinting specifications.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Traffic will soon be using a smart device to seize cars from houses for violations, as announced earlier. This is an electronic device connected to the General Directorate of Traffic that tracks and locates the violating vehicles parked at homes.
The main objectives of this device are to avoid paper transactions, speedy completion of task, and locating parked vehicles involved in traffic offence.
