Residents born in Qatar and the children of female Qatari nationals can avail scholarships to pursue higher education. The Government Scholarship Programme has published a list of conditions that must be fulfilled by children of female Qatari nationals and residents born in Qatar to be eligible to receive financial aid for higher studies.
The 10 conditions are as follows:
The applicant must have good reputation and conduct and must have completed all educational stages in Qatar schools; he/she should not be more than 20 years old at the time of applying for the scholarship; he/she should have secured at least 80 percent marks at the secondary level; he/she should have completed secondary school within a period not exceeding two years from the date of submission; he/she should not be an employee in the public or private sector; the applicant must receive unconditional acceptance from the educational institution; he/she must clear the personal interview; the scholarship will be according to the study plan for specialisation; the selection is based on the principle of competition.
The specialties available are General Medicine and Pharmacy at Qatar University, Nursing at University of Caligari Qatar, Nursing Technician from North Atlantic College, Respiratory Sciences, Radiology and Technical Diploma and Pharmacy from North Atlantic College.
Those who have been accepted will receive a monthly financial allowance of QR3,000.
They are also eligible for receiving QR5,000 as an annual book allowance and QR5,000 as computer allowance paid only once. Once the student successfully graduates, he/she will have to visit the Ministry of Administrative Development within one month of graduation, where the ministry will finalise the procedures for appointment in one of the entities subject to the programme of government scholarship.
