Qatari artist Abdelsalam al Qadi has made a crystal portrait of the Turkish President Receb Tayyib Erdogan, which he presented to Turkish Ambassador to Qatar HE Fikret Ozer.
The portrait, made of more than 30,000 swarovski crystals, was presented to the Turkish envoy on the occasion of the celebrations of Turkey’s Republic Day in the presence of several diplomats and dignitaries.
Ozer welcomed the Qatari artist’s gesture and invited him to Ankara to present the portrait to President Erdogan directly.
According to Qadi, it took him three months of consecutive hard work to make this portrait. He said he used 17 different colours of crystals to make this masterpiece.
The artist expressed his pride in the spirit of brotherhood and friendship that binds the two brotherly nations of Qatar and Turkey and said this artwork is a gift in the name of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and the people of Qatar to Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people.
“This is my third portrait of a prominent leader after that of HH the Amir and Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, and it represents our deepest gratitude to President Erdogan for his support.”
“President Erdogan and the Turkish people have always stood with us, especially in the hard times and he deserves to be honoured for that by us, as our national anthem says, ‘Qatar will be free by the spirit of the loyal,’” he added.
