The 2nd Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue, to be held on Sunday in Doha, aims to strengthen cooperation with the trusted and important ally and give fresh impetus to the bilateral relations, which are strong and built on shared values and mutual respect, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lulwah al Khater has said.
In remarks to QNA, she said the strategic dialogue that will review the overall Qatar-US relations is co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The dialogue will be held with the participation of a line-up of top government officials from the both sides, she added.
The Qatar-US strategic dialogue will include high-level discussions on a number of political, economic, defence and cultural issues and will witness the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) that with a view to enhancing cooperation in the interests of the Qatari and the US people, Khater added.
The first strategic dialogue was held in January 2018 in the US, which issued a joint statement stressing the commitment of the two friendly countries to promote bilateral trade and discuss bilateral investment frameworks that address tax policies and reduce regulatory obstacles.
The two sides also signed a number of agreements, MoUs and letters of intent in the fields of trade, investment, technology, energy and cooperation in sport, education, health, arts and culture.
