Turkey pro-Kurdish lawmaker on hunger strike in ‘critical’ condition

Istanbul: A detained lawmaker from the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey is suffering a “life-threatening” medical condition as her hunger strike enters its 64th day, the party said on Thursday. Leyla Guven, 55, launched a hunger strike on November 8 in protest at the prison conditions for Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan. (AFP)
