THE organisers of Shop Qatar Design District are looking forward to a bigger and better next edition of the fashion event given the good response from the public, according to Noor al Thani of the Qatar National Tourism Council (NTC)
In a media briefing held at the Fashion Speaker’s Corner of the Design District taking place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, she underlined that the inaugural edition of the Design District has been a success and the organisers have achieved their goals. She added, however, that the second edition of the event will feature even more talks and workshops and attract more participants as well as more engagement from the public.
“So far, we are getting good response from the public to this event. Everyone is asking about the event and getting educated about the design and fashion industry in Doha. Art enthusiasts, as well, are coming on board and asking how they can be involved in this initiative and how we can grow together to bring this to the next level,” she said.
Shop Qatar Design District, which kicked off on January 5 and will run until January 12 (Saturday), is highlighted with international fashion shows featuring renowned designers from 20 countries, beauty master classes and workshops led by top make-up artistes.
The event has also put a spotlight on the growing fashion industry in Qatar with the active participation of local designers and entrepreneurs who proudly showcased their creativity and ingenuity through their collections.
“The festival supports malls as well as independent retailers and local entrepreneurs by offering a platform to showcase their businesses and products. The Shop Qatar Design District brings together the biggest names in fashion and makeup from the region and beyond all under the same roof, to cement Qatar’s position as an emerging fashion and style hub,” Noor said earlier in a statement.
The Design District is supported by Fashion Trust Arabia and well received and participated by Qatar-based fashion designers through the Qatar Fashion Society.
