Having missed out on top finishes in the last round, in-form showjumper Mubarak Yousef al Rumaihi swung back into big action once again as the rider combined with his trusted mount Vivaldi K to claim top honours in the Medium Tour of national equestrian series – Hathab’s sixth round at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s outdoor arena on Friday.
The second edition of the championship is being held in partnership with Al Shaqab.
The championship consists of 12 rounds, the last of which takes place in April. The total prize-money of the competition is QR1.3 million.
Al Rumaihi finished the jump-off round in 26.6 seconds. Saeed Nasser al Qadi and Khalid Mohammed al Emadi finished second and third respectively.
In the Small Tour, Mohammed Jassim al Ghazali riding Michael Jackson won clocking 41.65secs and 25.91secs in Table A, Two phases, Art. 274.5.3 | 100/115cm competition.
Al Ghazali praised his horse and expressed delight at winning the Small Tour title.
Hathab was first held based on the directives of President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani with the aim of promoting equestrian sport in the society. A large number of riders participate in the competition. Companies and institutions are also getting the opportunity to sponsor talents.
The championship has five age categories, the youngest of which is 6-12 years old.
