The Association of Senates, Shura and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World on Saturday concluded its conference in Rabat, Morocco, with Speaker of the Shura Council HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud participating as the head of Qatar’s delegation to the conference.
The conference issued a communique, welcoming Qatar’s hosting of the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and its accompanying meetings from April 6 to 10.
The participants expressed their satisfaction on the implementation of the association’s programme, adopted in Morocco in September 2017. They also expressed satisfaction with the association’s success of extending cooperation ties with regional and international parliamentary bodies.
The communique also welcomed the requests of Libya, Kenya and Cote d’Ivoire to join the association, and encouraged the general secretariat of the association to continue with its efforts of inviting more Arab and African countries to join. The participants unanimously agreed that the Morocco should chair the parliamentary network for security and nutrition in Africa and the Arab world, and adopted the founding charter of the network.
