A painting exhibition featuring works of Japan-based Iranian artist Mohammad Khazaei kicked off at hotel InterContinental Doha-The City recently.
The month-long exhibition was inaugurated by the Manager of Admin and Culture in the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Hamad Muhammed al Zakeeba in the presence of Iran’s Ambassador to Qatar HE Mohammad Ali Sobhani, diplomats and dignitaries.
Talking to Qatar Tribune, al Zakeeba said that Qatari and Iranian art and culture have many similarities. Stressing that all art forms have a common universal language that is understood by everyone, he pointed out that art exchange programmes can help bring countries closer to each other.
Admiring Khazaei’s artistic skills, al Zakeeba said that his works reflect Iranians’ love for horses, especially Arabian horses.
The Iranian Ambassador HE Mohammad Ali Sobhani said that art is one of the channels connecting Iranian and Qatari peoples. “We have many similarities. Even the styles followed by our painters and other fine artists are very similar”, he remarked.
Lauding the works of Khazaei, the Iranian envoy said that each work was a perfect blend of different art styles. Khazaei uses a dozen styles including Japanese, Iranian and Arab to create the artworks.
The exhibition features 40 artworks including some created by Khazaei’s Vietnamese wife Ngan.
Khazaei said that he was visiting Qatar after a gap of four years and he was impressed by the way the State institutions were patronising arts in Qatar.
Khazaei, who currently conducts art classes at the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, plans to open an art gallery in Qatar.
