Srinagar: At least five secessionist militants were killed in a gun battle with security forces in India-administered Kashmir on Sunday, officials said. The clash took place in a village in Kulgam district when a joint team of police, paramilitary and army members searched for militants after receiving intelligence, a defence spokesman said. The rebels had fired on the security personnel, sparking a gun battle, and three militants died in the initial exchange of fire, he said. (dpa)
