Qatar Airways (QA) has again teamed up with Rolls-Royce to co-develop a specialised training programme for the future leaders of Qatar Airways, as part of the airline’s Al Darb Qatarisation programme.
The week-long course brought 40 Al Darb participants and 20 participants from Rolls-Royce to the Rolls-Royce training facility in Derby, the UK, to take part in a Business Management and Commercial Awareness training programme designed to enable Al Darb participants to learn from Rolls-Royce’s innovation and leadership.
Professional experts from Rolls-Royce introduced the airline’s nationals to a variety of topics designed to challenge them, including corporate strategy, financial management and a business management simulation, where participants competed in teams to create a profitable airline.
The programme aims to enable Al Darb participants to work with the Rolls-Royce team to create innovative solutions that will help develop their skills by exposing them to new perspectives.
The Al Darb programme is also facilitating courses that are delivered by Qatar Airways’ Talent Development department to enhance their skills.
Nationals are also provided the opportunity to take aviation courses delivered by IATA, including the Human Capital Management Diploma for HR and the Aviation Management Diploma.
Qatar Airways Senior Vice-President Human Resources Nabeela Fakhri said, “Qatar Airways is very pleased to collaborate with Rolls-Royce on this specialised training programme designed to provide Qatari Nationals with essential new skills and insights. This collaborative programme provides a unique opportunity for Al Darb participants to learn from one of the most innovative teams in the aviation industry.
“The Business Management and Commercial Awareness programme is one of the many initiatives the Al Darb Qatarisation programme is implementing to support Qatar’s talented young Nationals to develop their professional skills to prepare them for a career in the aviation industry, as well as provide them with the opportunity to connect and learn from the airline’s global strategic partners.”
Rolls-Royce Vice President - Customers David Hynes said, “Rolls-Royce is pleased to bring together world-class trainers, facilitators and simulations to create an excellent learning environment for the future leaders of both Qatar Airways and Rolls-Royce. The ability to learn from the syllabus and also each other makes this a valuable and memorable experience for all of those who attend.”
A Qatari word that means ‘The Pathway’, Al Darb highlights the different paths that individuals can take with Qatar Airways. Through initiatives such as its summer internship programme and Graduate Developee programme, Al Darb provides students and graduates with real-life projects that add to their work experience and prepare them for a successful career at the National Carrier of the State of Qatar.
