THE Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) has announced that it has finalised preparations, in cooperation with the Economic Zones Company (Manateq), to participate in National Sport Day activities at Katara Cultural Village on Tuesday (February 12).
The ministry’s participation in Sport Day activities reflects its belief in the importance of community sports and its contribution to the accomplishment of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which considers human beings as the pillar of a healthy society capable of contributing to Qatar’s sustainable development.
The ministry will organise a number of sports activities and recreational competitions on the occasion to attract an increasing number of participants in physical activities and raise awareness of the importance of sport and its role in the daily life of human beings.
The event aims at encouraging community members to exercise throughout the year as well as to promote the values of cooperation and solidarity among members of the community in a casual and entertaining atmosphere.
The ministry’s activities include recreational competitions and sports tournaments including beach volleyball, children football, boxing, table tennis, billiards and table football.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Manateq, invites all employees, their children and the public to take part in these diverse events that are open to visitors of all age groups.
Events will take place from 7.30am to 6pm, at Katara Cultural Village-the beach area, Gates No 8, 9 and 10.
