Persistent drizzle affected play on the opening day of the Qatar Total Open 2019 tournament at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex.
The first match of the main draw between Fatma al Nabhani of Oman and Barbora Strycova of Czech Republic, which was scheduled for 8pm start, was suspended due to the rain for well over an hour after the second stoppage.
When play resumed at 10pm, Anna Blinkova of Russia was leading 7-6, 2-3 in the qualifier against Australian Samantha Stosur, a match which had been interrupted twice by the drizzle for over an hour and a half.
Earlier, two qualifiers out of the total four were spotted with Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia and Karolina Muchova of Czech Republic progressing to the main draw.
Tomljanovic beat Slovakian Polona Hercog 6-3, 6-4 while Muchova defeated Russian Liudmila Samsonova 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. The last qualifier for the main draw spot is between Lin Zhu of China and Alison Riske of the US.tuesday order of playcentre court start 2pm
