THE Government Communications Office (GCO) has called upon citizens and residents of Qatar to shun abusing people and communities and their symbols on social media in line with the true principles of Islam and genuine Arab ethics.
In a press statement on Monday, the GCO noted that abusing people and communities on social media has become commonplace these days.
The GCO said the call to shun such behaviour derives from the directives of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani in his first speech after the blockade, in which he commended the Qatari people’s adherence to values and principles even in times of differences and stressed the need to continue this approach.
Qatar had earlier responded to the appeal of HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah on October 24, 2017, to preserve the rights of future generations, heal the wounds and avoid slipping into abuse.
The GCO called on people to refrain from exchange of abuses.
The GCO reiterated that its appeal reaffirms the need for citizens and residents of Qatar to adhere to high moral values when responding to abuses and fabrications because their cause is just and does not require exaggeration, and their defence of the homeland is based on justice, fairness and facts.
