Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), represented by the National Programme for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed), opened the third edition of its yearly Tarsheed Carnival at the Kahramaa Awareness Park (KAP) on Tuesday.
The 10-day event, which will run until February 28, is being held under the theme ‘Less Today. More Tomorrow’. The carnival will have several activities, interactive sessions, theatre performances and competitions promoting the theme of conservation and energy efficiency, catering to all segments of the society. It will also highlight all ongoing sustainability-related projects in Qatar.
The carnival will be held in two sessions. The first session, from 8am to 12pm, will be exclusively for students and the afternoon session, from 4pm 9pm, will be for general visitors.
This is one of the most important environmental awareness events being held in Qatar where both public and private sectors aspire and act together to protect the environment and help achieve the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030.
The Carnival is aimed at creating awareness in the society about protecting environment, preserving natural resources, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, inculcating conservation and environment-friendly habits in the youths and all for better living.
This year Carnival is being sponsored by Qatar National Bank (QNB) and Ooredoo as the Diamond Sponsors, Al Rayyan Satellite Channel as the Gold sponsor and Qatar Airways and ConocoPhillips as the Silver sponsor.
The Carnival will also highlight the role undertaken by the government and private sectors in protecting the environment and in achieving sustainability goals such as the Ministry of Interior, Civil Defence Department, Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar Olympic Committee, Al Sadd Sports Club, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) represented by Bedaya Center, Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN), Ehsan Center, Qatar Cool, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, Al Shahbana Environmental Association, Al Dana Girls Center, Girls Creativity Center among others.
The Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed) department of Kahramaa contributes to promoting the national economy by allocating places for coffee shops and restaurants being run by Qatari youths to encourage their entrepreneurial activities.
