INDIAN Sports Centre (ISC), an organisation working under the aegis of Indian Embassy, will move to its own premises within two years, ISC President Nilangshu Dey has said.
Addressing a press conference in Doha on Saturday, Dey said that the centre has also scheduled a total of 35 major sports events in 2019.
He added further that the ISC has formed 10 separate sections for football, cricket, volleyball & basketball, athletics, golf, aquatics & water sports, table tennis, tennis & badminton and Yoga & fitness.
“During the last two years, we have organised sports events in association with Qatar Football Association , Qatar Cricket Association , Qatar Volleyball Association , Qatar Athletics Federation , Qatar table Tennis Association , Qatar Swimming Association, Qatar Stars League etc, and we look forward to collaborating with other federations in the coming months,” Dey said.
Vice President EP Abdurahiman said that ISC will start its few facilities shortly on its own premises. Rental option is being considered at initial stage, he added.
ISC Vice President (Corporate & Government Relations & Sponsorship) Sharafu P Hameed highlighted the initiative to enrol more than 40 companies as corporate members of ISC by 2020.
ISC also plans to hold ‘Sports Excellence Day’ on September21 to recognise the sports personalities of Indian community.
