The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) on Sunday started distributing blood-glucose meters to eligible patients at its health centres across the country.
The glucometer is used to determine the level of glucose concentration in the blood, which allows patients to examine their blood glucose levels regularly to avoid any complications caused by uncontrolled hyperglycemia in the long term, in addition to any short-term complications.
Executive Director of Operation Department at the PHCC Dr Samya al Abdulla said that as part of the continuous development of the health services offered, the PHCC signed a joint agreement with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). The deal aimed at managing the whole process of dispensing blood-glucose meters free of cost to patients through its health centres across the country.
She pointed out that access to these devices was previously available only through HMC, but now is now available at PHCC centres and HMC.
“The PHCC is working on a strong and integrated health system that works according to scientific principles and in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The PHCCis witnessing a qualitative leap in the health services provided at its centres,” she added.
Director of Logistics Services at PHCC Ali al Mahmoudi said that Qataris and residents can receive the device and all related medical supplies from the health centres after obtaining the medical evaluation and description of the device by the competent doctor.
