QATAR Leadership Centre (QLC) recently held its official orientation event for the 118 successful participants of the 2019-2020 National Leadership Program cycle.
Participants of the Executive Leaders, Government Leaders and Rising Leaders programmes commence a year of transformative growth and leadership development in line with the centre’s mission to elevate national management capabilities through the advancement of human capital.
Bringing together incoming Qatari professionals, faculty and staff members, the event introduced attendees to the centre’s framework and objectives for the upcoming year in addition to an overview of the upcoming modules, learning journeys and year-round QLC activities.
A series of interactive team building workshops allowed participants to meet fellow colleagues and forge important connections.
The Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors of QLC Dr Abdulla bin Ali al Thani said: “Each year, upcoming and established leaders in Qatar’s public, private and government organisations compete for entry into QLC’s elite development programme, which offers a multifaceted and broadly applicable leadership methodology. QLC graduates go on to assume positions at the vanguard of our national development efforts. It is their commitment towards sustainable and conscientious leadership practice, coupled with QLC’s emphasis on capacity-building from within that leads to their continued success as the country’s top decision-makers in their respective fields.”
Enrolment in one of the three programmes is preceded by a rigorous one-month evaluation process that takes into account work experience and academic background. Admission is determined by the outcome of a set of merit-based assessments of leadership capabilities, including panel interviews with top experts and leaders representing different sectors. The centrehas also implemented a holistic assessment before the panel interviews’ stage. The final participant intake is thereby comprised of a top percentile of qualified applicants, having set themselves apart by superior levels of qualification and dedication.
To empower Qatari professionals through the highest quality of instruction and development, each QLC programme delivers world-class modules in partnership with some of the world’s most renowned educational institutes including the University of Cambridge, University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Duke University (Corporate Education), Georgetown University McDonough School of Business, Harvard University (Business School and International Negotiation Program), HEC Paris, Rice University, University of Oxford (Saïd Business School), Al Jazeera Media Institute, amongst others.
More than 500 high-performing senior managers and executives have successfully completed one of QLC’s National Leadership Programs to date. They currently support Qatar’s development as a self-reliant nation whose home-grown industries and talents underscore its place within the global market-economy.
