IT was a beehive of activities at the Oxygen Park in Education City as hundreds of people thronged the venue to attend the tenth edition of Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF).
Visitors had more than 150 food and beverage offerings to choose from.
The festival has three dedicated areas including O1 for the main course specialties and centre stage; O2 for children-friendly foods and activities; and O3 for cafes and light food.
Besides, the festival featured an array of cultural performances, such as Indian classical dance as well as roaming shows, which kept visitors entertained as they enjoyed their sumptuous delicacies.
There were a number of live cooking demonstrations conducted by renowned culinary artistes including chefs Aisha al Tamimi, Hind, Manal al Alem, Zarmig Haladjian, Mohit Trivedi and Ankit Tyagi.
Since the festival was being held at this venue for the first time, it gave people a chance to explore the facilities at the Education City. Besides taking pictures, the visitors strolled in the well-manicured lawns at the park.
Eatery owners were a happy lot. Since Friday was a day off for many people, they received many visitors, especially families.
Maha, owner of Sevda Cakes, told Qatar Tribune that she received many visitors of different nationalities who bought her pastries.
She displayed Japanese, chocolate, honey and Turkish cakes. “This is my first time to take part in QIFF. Today I sold more cakes compared to yesterday. I really like the festival and I am really grateful for this platform. I will participate again next year.”
She said that her business is home-based and QIFF has given her a chance to expose her business and that she is planning to start a shop soon.
Another participant at Baba Chapatea said,
“We have received a big crowd today. This is our third time to take part in the festival and we hope to continue.”
Mohamad who brought his family to the festival said, “This is our first time to the Oxygen Park. It is a great venue. It is really beautiful. My children are having a great time here.”
QIFF is organised and delivered by Qatar National Tourism Council with the support of numerous partners representing the aviation, entertainment, hospitality and F&B sectors in Qatar.
