Four major government institutions will be relocated to new buildings over the next few weeks, according to a prominent Qatari journalist.
In a tweet, journalist Hassan al Sai said the new buildings have been completed.
The General Directorate of Passports will move from its current location to the new building near the Duhail Club, behind Woqod gas station. The New Emergency Department at Hamad General Hospital will be moved from the old building to the new building.
The new department can accommodate nearly four times more patients than earlier. The new four-storey building has 348 rooms offering various services.
Similarly, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education will move from its current location in Al Dafna to the new building near University Road, next to the Olympic Committee building, opposite Qatar University.
The General Authority for Minors Affairs will also be shifted to a new building.
The building of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is designed to accommodate 1,500 people to accommodate increasing number of employees. The complex, which is an architectural masterpiece consisting of five oval buildings, is connected by a semicircular corridor called “Knowledge Wall”. Spread over 61,000 square metres, the building was designed as per the latest design that use modern equipment.
The new passport building consists of five departments: Department of Expatriates Affairs, the Department of Passports, the Department of Search and Follow-up, the Department of Uniform Services, the Administration of Passports, as well as an independent Naturalization and Travel Documents Building.
The building has several floors, which accommodate the administrative sectors in addition to the places of the reviewers. It has suitable parking spaces.
