Al Rayyan and Al Sadd will lock horns on Tuesday in the Amir Cup basketball final at the Al Gharafa Soports Club in a repeat of the 2013 finals.
Both teams will be gunning for the last basketball trophy of the season after losing out in both the league and the Qatar Cup.
Al Rayyan are the record winners of the Cup with eight titles but haven’t reached the finals since their 2013 win over Al Sadd. The Lions beat Al Gharafa in the semi-final 80-71 thanks to a dominant second quarter outscoring Gharafa 23-6.
Meanwhile, Al Sadd overcame defending champions Al Arabi to book a finals spot.
Ahead of the final, Al Sadd coach said, “The final will be very difficult and we have young players like Nasser al Rayes and Faisal Abu Issa. We also have experienced players like Dominique and I have a good team of players who are capable of achieving a good result in the final.”
