Qatar and Tanzania are considering establishment of Tanzania-Qatar Joint Permanent Commission as a step towards laying the foundation and framework for deeper cooperation for mutual benefits, the ambassador of Tanzania has said.
Speaking at the Tanzania’s National Day celebrations, Tanzanian Ambassador to Qatar HE Fatma Mohamed Rajab said, the Commission will focus on areas such as trade and investment promotion, tourism, gas exploration, port development, agriculture, mining, real estate development, energy, infrastructure development, manufacturing, cooperation in education, youth and sports, culture, maritime, legal affairs, among others. “The two countries are now working together to finalise the pending memorandum of understanding in these fields.”
The ambassador added that a lot of achievements have been made in strengthening Qatar-Tanzania in cooperation and take it to its next level.
Rajab said that as regards labour cooperation, an agreement between the two countries “concerning the regulation of employment of Tanzania citizens in Qatar” was signed in 2014. The agreement was intended to create opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers from Tanzania to benefit from the high demand of migrant labour in different sectors of Qatar.”
She said that Tanzania needed to work closely with Qatar for human resource development and producing skilled and semi-skilled workforce that can be employed in Qatar, while at the same time develop skills for Tanzania petrochemical industry.
