QATAR University’s (QU) College of Engineering (CENG) launched the four-day Global Conference on Global Warming 2019 (GCGW-2019) in the university’s Ibn Khaldoon Hall.
The GCGW-2019 will include plenary sessions, keynote lectures and several specialised sessions on topics from different disciplines related to energy, environment and materials.
In his speech, QU President Dr Hassan al Derham said, “We expect that this conference will provide a forum for the exchange of technical information, dissemination of high-quality research results and presentation of new policies and scientific progress for enhancing sustainable development and energy security.”
CENG Dean Prof Abdelmagid Hammuda said, “The GCGW has been organised successfully as a leading congress in the area since 2008 and GCGW-2019 will be the 8th one of this conference series. The previous conferences have been held successfully in various parts of the world, namely three times in Istanbul and once each in Lisbon, Beijing and Athens. We have already started working extensively to make GCGW-2019 a more remarkable event with a larger success in terms of its technical and social content. We are extremely excited that we will have the opportunity to show you the distinct Qatari hospitality and the stunning beauty of the city Doha.”
The Head of Department of Chemical Engineering Prof Majeda Khraisheh remarked: “Participations from both academia and industry are welcomed. We hope that the conference will lead to effective and fruitful discussions and collaborations between the participants from different disciplines, institutes and sectors from all over the world.”
