The 2nd Chance Rescue- Qatar, one of the animal shelters in the country, will be hosting a special event to mark its 10th anniversary on April 26, from 2pm.
The shelter, situated in a vast farm located in North of Doha, will celebrate its milestones in rehabilitating and re-homing animals, providing all the necessary medical, physical and emotional care needed, until each animal finds a permanent home.
“We currently have 100 dogs under our care. People can also bring their own dogs to our event. It is the first time we are allowing it so this is very exciting,” according to a spokesperson of the shelter.
The day of fun will feature activities for children such as bouncy castle and face painting as well as stalls selling various merchandises. Those who will come with their own dogs are urged to ensure that their pets are vaccinated and have them on a leash at all times while other visitors can also walk one of the dogs in the shelter.
According to the official website of 2nd Chance Rescue, the shelter was founded in 2009 by Qatari national Abdulla al Naemi. Initially, the vision was to be a simple mission caring for abandoned animals but six year later it has transformed into a full-scale animal shelter.
“As a non-profit organisation, we rely on the kind contributions and volunteer efforts of our animal loving community and welcome all new faces,” a statement from the shelter’s management read.
The animal farm is also open for dog walking (Open Day) each Saturday from 2pm to 6pm. Volunteers and manager team members are also available at the shelter every Friday and Saturday afternoon.
