DOHA resident Justine Mae"Jaya" San Jose was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016 Tourism International during the pageant's Coronation Night in Manila on Saturday.
Nineteen-year-old Jaya, a former student of the Philippine School Doha and current Hero Qatar ambassador, was one of the top winners at the pageant. Jaya will now represent the Philippines in international competitions for respective titles. She represented Calabarzon at the pageant.
The other winners were Ganiel Akrisha Krishnan crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific International and Michelle Thorlund crowned Mutya ng Overseas Communities.
First runner-up award went to Lynette Bradford while Ashley Nicole Singh was awarded second runner-up.
Filipinos in Qatar celebrated the victory of another"Doha baby" with floods of greetings on the social media. Jaya's current crown was earlier held by Doha resident Janela Joy Cuaton.
Jaya's legions of supporters in Doha are already anticipating for a grand homecoming event for the beauty titlist. Among her supporters in Qatar include community group Hero Qatar and the Alliance of Filipino Journalists in Qatar (AFJQ). Her participation in the pageant was also officially endorsed by the Philippine Embassy Doha.
Aside from being among the top winners, Jaya also took home several awards during the Pre-Pageant events including the Best in Long Gown and Best in Swimsuit.
