THE Doha chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised a seminar on the topic ‘Future of Finance’ at Hotel Crowne Plaza – The Business Park recently. Around 120 members of the chapter, who are serving various businesses and organisations across Qatar as senior finance professionals, attended the event.
The keynote speaker at the session was CA Harikrishna Mahadevan, director, PWC Middle East Finance Consulting Practice. He enlightened the audience on the constantly changing business dynamics and the role of finance in such an evolving scenario.
He noted that the role of finance has transformed from being a book keeper to generating and providing real time strategic information to enable businesses to make timely and informed decisions.
He said finance professionals have to make use of the tools and technology available in the market to achieve these goals and become strategic decision makers rather than being just accountants.
In her opening remarks, the chapter Chairperson Rukkaiya Pachisa thanked the members for their presence in large numbers.
CA Kamlesh Tibrewal briefed members on the much-awaited trekking trip to Hampta Pass for the members to be conducted during the Eid-Al-Adha holidays.
Secretary of the chapter Nirlep Bhatt welcomed the members while Jithu Koshy proposed the vote of thanks.
