All roads lead to Al Wakrah Stadium, the second FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadium that will be unveiled when it hosts the Amir Cup final on Thursday, as fans and football lovers are set to throng the venue.
The 40,000-capacity arena will host its first match – the final of the prestigious Amir Cup to be held between defending champions Al Duhail and QNB Stars League winners Al Sadd — on Thursday.
The stadium is certain to be jam-packed and the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the fans have an enriching experience.
Qatar Rail, which recently opened Doha Metro’s Red Line for the public, has extended its service hours to take the fans to the stadium.
“We look forward to carry the fans of the Amir Cup on board. Our extended service hours for Thursday are from 8 am to 3 am,” Qatar Rail said in a tweet.
“Don’t miss the game! We recommend you to be at the station before 8:45pm to ensure arrival before the game. The shuttle bus service at Al Wakrah station takes around 20 minutes to reach the stadium,” it said.
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal), in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and QFA and the SC, have worked out a fool-proof plan to ease the traffic flow on the roads surrounding the stadium. Ashghal has put up a number of signage providing directions that will lead the people to the parking slots. In addition, there is mobile overhead gantry with signs to lead the road users.
Paving the way for the stadium, Ashghal has delivered a number of roads, expressways and infrastructure projects. It has developed five Expressway projects, Al Wukair Road and local roads surrounding the stadium to ease the traffic flow.

In order to facilitate the fans to commute from Al Wakrah Metro Station to Al Wakrah Stadium, Ashghal has constructed 3.5- km long pedestrian and cycle tracks extending from the metro station to the stadium.
Ashghal has urged non-stadium commuters to avoid the roads surrounding Al Wakrah Stadium from 6:30 pm on Thursday to 2 am.
The organisers, Qatar Football Association (QFA) and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) have asked the fans to arrive at the stadium well in advance of the match time to avoid rush and traffic bottleneck.
Khalid al Naama, Media Relations Senior Officer at SC, said, “To make it easier for fans there will be a shuttle service to ferry fans from Al Wakrah Metro Station to the stadium.”
“Fans can also use of taxis. We want the fans to arrive early as it’s a new stadium and there will be a security cordon in and around the stadium,” Major Abdulla al Ghanim, official spokesperson of Security Committee, said.Prohibited items during finalThe Organizing Committee of the Amir Cup has issued a number of instructions for the spectators of the Amir Cup final to be held at Al Wakrah Stadium on Thursday to ensure safety and security.
