Cairo: Yemen’s Iran-linked Houthi rebels on Wednesday said they had attacked an airport in a Saudi border city for the second straight day amid regional tensions. Saudi Arabia, a regional rival of Iran, is leading a military campaign in Yemen against the Houthis. The pro-Houthi television station al-Masirah reported that the drone attack on Wednesday targeted runways used by warplanes at the airport in the Saudi south-western city of Najran.
The broadcaster, citing a Houthi military source, said the attack was “successful” without giving details. There has been no comment from the Saudi-led coalition. On Tuesday, the Houthis said a drone operated by them attacked the Najran airport and targeted an arms warehouse there. (dpa)
