Starting from Saturday, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) will intensify inspections on work sites to ensure compliance of companies with the work ban hours rule during summer.
Qatar’s Labour Law bans companies from scheduling their workers to operate in open areas from 11:30 am to 3 pm during summer. The ban comes into effect from June 15. Inspectors will also check on the resting air-conditioned places for labourers during the noon break. Hefty fines and even a total closure can be imposed on companies that don’t comply with this law. The inspectors have the authority to close down the working site for one month for violations. Companies must clearly put the working time schedule for their workers and inspectors.
