THE Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) participated in the Global Forum for Responsible Recruitment.
The event was organised by the International Organisation for Migration and Institute for Human Rights and Business in Bangkok, Thailand.
At a special session, Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Affairs Hassan Mohammed al Obaidly and ministry representative in Geneva Mahmoud Sadiqi presented Qatar’s experience in responsible recruitment and initiatives undertaken by the State in this regard.
The two-day forum was attended by governments, international organisations, civil society organisations, representatives of trade unions and a number of major international companies.
All participants praised the steps and measures taken by Qatar to combat unethical recruitment and imposition of fees on workers. Meanwhile, MADSLA, Labour and Social Affairs ministry also participated in a workshop on settlement centres and MENA Shelter and Settlements Forum which was held in Jordan.
The two-day workshop, which concluded on Thursday, is the first of its kind in the region and targets staff and specialists in shelter centres, experts and academics in order to facilitate exchange of experiences among countries on the regional humanitarian shelters.
