Qatargas sponsors Best Overall Prize at 16th Annual Plant Design Competition

Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) sponsored and presented the Best Overall Prize at the 16th Annual Plant Design Competition, organised by Qatar University’s Chemical Engineering Department.
Altogether 22 teams vied for the prestigious prize.
The ‘Top Tech Team’ emerged the overall winners. They showcased their design of a Condensate Refining Process and Ethylene Glycol Process. The team carried out the feasibility study of their design in Qatar by establishing the market demand trend, consumption trend and the markets for their product, while prioritising the environmental impact assessment and emissions reduction aspects.
Qatargas Chief Engineering & Projects Officer Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla al Thani, Asset & Surveillance Engineering Manager Dr Rashid Sultan al Kuwari and Head of Surveillance Ahmed Jaber al Mohannadi presented the prizes to the winning team at a special ceremony held at Qatargas Doha Head Office.
Dr Easa al Musleh and Fadwa ElJack, professors of Chemical Engineering at QU, and other faculty members from the university also attended the event.
Prior to the award ceremony, the student teams showcased their award entries during 20-minute presentations before addressing questions from the judging panel. Representing Qatargas on the judging panel were Head of Surveillance Engineering Ahmed Jaber al Mohannadi and Head of Measurement Jassim al Shammali.
“Supporting and encouraging education is a core element of Qatargas’ Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Qatargas is committed to building and maintaining partnerships with universities and supporting students to develop the requisite skills to meet the future needs of the oil and gas industry in Qatar,” the company said in a press statement.
