Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed al Hammadi on Wednesday reviewed the technical, scientific, cultural and sporting programmes and events being offered by summer centres to school students.
This came during the minister’s visit to the Barzan Youth Center in Umm Salal Ali, where he met with the centre’s officials and students who briefed him on the progress of the summer centres and the extent to which students benefit from the programmes offered to them.
Activities at summer centres are organised by the Ministries of Education, Higher Education, and Culture and Sports.
The activities began on July 14 at 14 centres, split evenly for both boys and girls, as well as two centres for students with special needs, namely the Al Gharafa Club Center for boys and the Al Resala Independent Secondary School for Girls, in cooperation with the Mada Assistive Technology Centre of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The activities of summer centres are attended by Qatari and expat children aged 6 to 18 years and studying in public and private schools to make best use of students’ leisure time for their own benefit.
