Qatar was elected as a member of the Executive Office of the Arab Information Ministers Council for two years at the conclusion of the 50th session of the Arab Information Ministers Council on Wednesday.
Iraq was elected as President of the Executive Office.
In a press statement at the conclusion of the meeting, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League Ambassador Badr Eddin Alali said the Council had adopted several resolutions on the items listed on the agenda. He said some of the items are durable and others are new, including resolutions related to the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem, sustainable development, countering terrorist threats and the role the media must play in support of Arab issues.
The Council also adopted the Charter of Media Honour and the inclusion of media education in the curriculum, he added.
Qatar’s team to the session was led by Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League HE Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz al Sahlawi.
