Juba: At least 13 people were killed when a heavily-armed group attacked a village and stole hundreds of cattle in central South Sudan, a local official said. The attackers wounded seven others and stole about 230 cattle in the village of Rumbek East in the Western Lakes state, area commissioner Benjamin Aduol said. “We have confirmed 13 dead bodies lying on the ground this morning in the cattle camp,” including one child, four women and eight men, said Aduol. The identity of the attackers remained unclear, but authorities suspect it may have been carried out by residents from neighbouring Tonj state, after a similar attack was carried out on their land.
