Germany charges three Iraqis for planning Islamist attack Aug 15, 2019 0 1021 12345 Karlsruhe: Three Iraqis are to be charged with preparing an Islamist terrorist attack, German federal prosecutors announced on Wednesday. The three, all men, are to stand trial in Hamburg. They were detained in Dithmarschen in the north-western state of Schleswig-Holstein at the end of January and have since been held in pretrial custody. The two younger accused, whose ages were given at the time as 23, are charged with planning the attack in late 2018. They are said to have conducted tests with black powder taken from fireworks. They intended to procure a firearm from the third accused, a friend of theirs, but the weapon offered turned out to be too expensive.
