The Qatari squad returned home from Beirut, Lebanon with a rich haul of 14 medals, including four gold and as many silver, from the recently-concluded West Asia Youth Athletics Championship.
Out of 10 countries competing in male events, Qatar finished second in the medal table.
Qatar won the gold medals through Saeed Alabsi (100m hurdles), Mohamad Nouh (high jump), Hamza Souissi (shot put) and Abdelmajid Abed (400m hurdles).
The following were medallists for Qatar: 100m: Khalid Zakariya (bronze medal); 110m hurdles: Saeed Alabsi (gold medal); 200m: Abdelmajid Abed (silver medal); Khalid Zakariya (bronze medal); 400m: Abdelmajid Zakariya (bronze medal); 400m hurdles: Abdelmajid Abed (gold medal); Sulaiman al Khater (fifth); 800m: Elhafez Mahadi (bronze medal); Relay: Team Qatar - Saeed Alabsi, Khalid Zakariya, Abdelmajid Abed, Abdelmajid Zakariya – (silver medal); High jump: Mohamad Nouh (gold medal); Discus throw: Hamza Souissi (silver medal); Shot put: Hamza Souissi (gold medal); Hammer throw: Abdulla Sharaf (silver medal).
