Second Division League expanded

The Qatar Stars League (QSL) held a co-ordination meeting with QNB Stars League and second division league coaches at its headquarters in Al Bidda Tower, in line with its policy of continuous consultation in order to devise ways for the development of football in the country.
The meeting was attended by Ahmed Khellil Abbassi, Executive Director of Competitions and Football Development at QSL, Ahmed al Adsani, Director of Competitions Department at QSL, Miguel Heitor, Acting Director of Football Development at QSL, Ali Hamoud al Nuaimi, Head of Competitions at the QFA, and Abdullah al Balooshi, representative of QFA’s Referees’ Committee.
Abbassi, while welcoming the participants, stressed the importance of having such meetings, development process between QSL and clubs, and increasing the technical level of tournaments and players.
The meeting also discussed a number of important points, such as development of football and key technical observations made by the coaches.
Abbassi also added, “We met with the coaches to get their views on how to contribute towards the development of league championship, professionalism and football in general, based on their technical expertise. We’ve coaches with high technical levels. Benefiting from their wide experience through direct communication is very important as they’re an essential part of the football system.”
Two new teams added in Second Division League
The Executive Committee of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) decided on Monday to include two more clubs for the new season by accepting the registration of Al Nasr Club and Lusail Club.
With the addition of two new clubs, the number of the second division clubs has gone to eight. The six clubs are: Al Kharaitiyat, Al Markhiya, Mesaimeer, Al Shamal, Muaither and Al Bidda. The decision to increase the second division clubs has been done to expand the game and develop the sport for a bigger audience. The league will have two phases.
On the opening day on September 18, Al Kharaitiyat Club vs Al Bidda Club, Al Muaither Club vs Al Shamal Club, Al Markhiya Club vs Mesaimeer, Lusail Club vs Al Nasr Club.
