Qatar’s success in Expo Beijing 2019 is the result of the efforts made by the country to promote sustainable development and preserve the environment, acting Secretary General of Expo Doha 2021 Eng Jamal Sheridaal Kaabi has said.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Kaabi praised the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and the pavilion’s organising committee for introducing the world to Qatar’s efforts in the field of horticulture, agriculture and environmental conservation as well as to Qatar’s cultural heritage. Through its participation, Qatar has also gained experience to host the event successfully in Doha in 2021, he said.
Doha 2021, which will open in October, 2021, and last for 155 days, is part of Qatar National Vision 2030 and would contribute to the achievement of its economic, social and environmental pillars, he pointed out. He said the event will facilitate investments in innovative agricultural technologies and support efforts to transform drylands into agricultural areas.
On the challenges facing Qatar to host Expo Doha 2021, he said: “We have two years to complete preparations for hosting the Expo Doha 2021, in addition to implementing all the requirements set by the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE) and the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH).”
Apart from 80 countries, the Expo Doha will host exhibitors and companies that contribute to the development of horticultural and agricultural solutions and conservation of environment, he added.
Eng Kaabi stressed that Qatar’s winning of the bid to host Expo Doha 2021 is a testament to the efforts exerted by the State to curb desertification and reduce carbon emissions by finding innovative solutions.
The Expo Doha 2021, which will be held from October 14,2021, to March 17, 2022, aims to inspire and inform people about innovative solutions and reduce desertification.
