QATAR’S iconic hotel Marriott Marquis City Center Doha, in partnership with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS), hosted ‘Fight Against Breast Cancer’ event to raise general awareness about the disease and funds for the QCS.
The event was held as part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Part of the funds raised from the campaign will go to QCS to help breast cancer patients. The event also stressed the importance of regular screening for timely detection of the disease.
Hosted in the lobby of the hotel, the event was held in the presence of Qatar Cancer Society representatives, a breast cancer survivor, media and hotel guests.
The event commenced with an informative speech by Qatar Cancer Society on breast cancer. The speech highlighted the risk factors, symptoms and screening facilities in Qatar.
Then, a breast cancer survivor guest shared her journey – one filled with faith, hope, determination and gratitude for the support she received from Qatar Cancer Society.
To mark this special occasion, the hotel is not only offering ‘Think Pink Items’ at Quick Bites and ‘Pink Fika Time’ at West End Cafe throughout October, but it has committed to donate 10 percent of the proceeds from the sale of ‘Pink Concept’ to the QCS.
“We are delighted and proud to partner with Qatar Cancer Society for the fourth consecutive year to bring attention to breast cancer awareness,” said Rick Enders, Multi Property general manager at Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel. “With this campaign, we aim to increase awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for research and honour those who have fought against it.”
Pink Fika Time in West End Cafe, priced at QR55 per person, will be served daily from 10am to 5pm until October 31.
