THE Minister of Municipality and Environment HE Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turkial Subaie met with President of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) Bernard Oosterom and the AIPH Secretary General Tim Briercliffe, on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Bernard and Briercliffe congratulated the minister on the Qatari pavilion winning the association’s and Expo Beijing 2019’s grand awards, wishing Qatar success in hosting the International Horticultural Expo Doha 2021.
For his part, Subaie thanked Oosterom and Briercliffe for the efforts made by the AIPH to make this important event a success and for its confidence in Qatar to be the organiser of this event in 2021.
The meeting also dealt with Qatar’s preparations for hosting the Doha Expo 2021.
Meanwhile, AIPH Secretary General Tim Briercliffe praised Qatar’s participation in Expo Beijing 2019 and pointed out that Qatar’s pavilion won the two awards with great merit.
Briercliffe said that the Qatari pavilion was distinctive in terms of activities and events and it showcased Qatar’s efforts in the field of agriculture and horticulture, especially in combating desertification and increasing green areas.
On the readiness of Qatar to host the Horticultural Expo 2021 in Doha, he said that he expected the hosting to be outstanding.
He noted that the theme of Expo Doha 2021 ‘Green Desert, Better Environment’ is a challenge and an opportunity for Qatar to attain green development.
