Speaker of the Advisory (Shura) Council HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud participated in the opening session of the 205th meeting of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Belgrade on Monday. The meeting will continue until October 17.
The opening session discussed a number of issues, including proposals for the election of the president of the 141st Assembly, approval of the summary minutes of the 204th Session of the Governing Council and the financial situation of the IPU. It also discussed the draft unified budget for 2020 and the reports of the president and secretary-general on the activities of the IPU after the 204th session of the Governing Council. Several members of the Shura attended the event.
On the sidelines of the IPU session, the Shura speaker met separately with his Iranian counterpart and IPU secretary-general. The meetings discussed bilateral and parliamentary relations and he topics on the agenda of the 141st IPU Assembly.
Mahmoud also met with President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and the ways to develop them. (QNA)
