In a bid to ease overcrowding at petrol stations, Woqod is planning to launch a campaign to make motorists aware of the longer fuel hoses at many of its service stations across the country.
A Woqod official said many motorists are unaware of the long fuel hoses at 19 of the 34 Woqod fuel stations in Qatar.
In June, Woqod completed extension of fuel hoses at 19 of their service stations. Work is under way to equip the rest of the service stations with longer hoses, the official said.
Longer hoses help in filling fuel tanks regardless of which side the tanks are, allowing for more accessibility and reducing the waiting time for motorists.
Woqod CEO Ibrahim Jaham al Kuwari had earlier told Qatar Tribune that longer fuel hoses will move the queue of vehicles at Woqod service stations faster and help reduce the waiting time.
Despite the new initiative, many motorists said, the problem of heavy build-up of vehicles at Woqod fuel stations is far from over."It took me more than half-an-hour to fill the tank of my vehicle at a Woqod petrol station near D-Ring Road. It is very tiring to wait for such a long time when the temperature is high during the day time. The situation is not good," a motorist said.
"You go to any fuel station in Doha, you will find long lines of vehicles," another motorist said.
The Woqod official said enquires and suggestions received by customers suggest that many motorists are not aware about the facility of longer fuel hoses at service stations.
Though Woqod staff members supervise the entry of vehicles and direct them to the available machines, the official said, it is not enough to create awareness among all motorists."After receiving suggestions, the company is discussing the idea of displaying the availability of longer hoses with proper instructions at the entrance of the Woqod fuel stations," he said.
This move will prompt motorists to choose any lane irrespective of the fact which side the fuel cap is and speed up the fuel filling process, he added.
